Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
This policy describes how Calypte RV Rentals ("we," "us") handles personal information when you use calypterv.com. We operate a peer-to-peer RV rental platform based in British Columbia, Canada.
Consent
By using our website or services you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, however doing so may prevent you from using certain features of the platform. We will not use your personal information for any purpose beyond what is described here without first obtaining your consent.
Age requirements
Our services are intended for users aged 25 and older. By using this site you represent that you are at least 25 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child under 13 has provided us with personal information without consent, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Account and contact: name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you sign up or sign in.
- Third-party sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive the information your Google account shares with us (typically name, email address, and profile picture) to create and populate your account. You can control what Google shares through your Google account privacy settings.
- Identity and age: date of birth and an image of your driver's license when you complete ID verification.
- Booking details: trip dates, guest count, notes, delivery destination choices, and related messages.
- Payment information: processed by Stripe; we receive status and transaction references, not your full card number stored on our own database.
- Messages and reviews: communications sent through our messaging system and reviews submitted after a completed trip. Messages will not expose your email address to other users. Any personal information you choose to share within a message or review is your responsibility.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and logs needed to run and secure the service. This non-personal information may be combined with personal information to provide the service (for example, using your IP address to estimate your location for distance calculations).
Why we collect it
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage accounts and bookings.
- Verify that renters meet age and identity requirements.
- Process payments and security deposit holds.
- Communicate about bookings, support, and legal requirements.
- Send transactional notifications (such as booking confirmations and policy updates) regardless of your marketing preferences.
- Maintain condition reports, reviews, and dispute records.
- Improve security and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Compile aggregate, non-identifying statistics about how the platform is used.
How we store and process data
Firebase / Firestore (Google Cloud): we use Google Firebase for authentication and to store booking and profile data in Firestore databases. Our servers are located in the United States and accordingly your personal information may be available to both Canadian and US governments or their agencies under a lawful order.
Images: driver's license photos and condition-report photos are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage with access limited to our application and authorized administrators.
Payments: Stripe processes card payments, deposit authorizations, and owner payouts. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data they handle. Refunds of deposits or cancellation refunds are processed back to the original payment method through Stripe.
Email: transactional emails are delivered via Resend. If you opt in to marketing communications, your email address may be used for that purpose and you may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
Maps: map features use Mapbox which may set its own cookies or identifiers according to its privacy policy.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to a small business. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers for their own marketing lists. We may share data with service providers (such as Google Firebase, Stripe, Cloudflare, and Resend) strictly as needed to operate the platform, or when required by law.
Disclosures
We may disclose your personal information without your consent if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or property, protect the safety of users or others, or comply with applicable law or a lawful order.
In the event of a corporate reorganization, merger, or sale of all or a substantial portion of our assets, your personal information may be transferred to the acquiring party, provided it continues to be used consistent with this policy.
Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. This may extend beyond the termination of your account. We may retain certain data to prevent fraud, for tax and accounting purposes, or for other legitimate business reasons. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information subject to these retention obligations.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage for sign-in sessions and user preferences. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Access and accuracy
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or ask that it be deleted. To make any such request, contact us at the email below. We will respond within a reasonable time. In some circumstances we may not be able to provide all information (for example where it also pertains to another user) and we will explain why.
Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to update this policy at any time. Non-material clarifications take effect on the date posted. Material changes will be posted at least 30 days before taking effect. Your continued use of the platform after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
PIPEDA
We aim to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable British Columbia private-sector privacy legislation. If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you may contact us at the email below or escalate to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
